The focus of this course will be on learning the basic steps and skills used to create sequential art. We will go over each stage in detail–from idea generation all the way through to publishing options–touching on the diverse array of format and material options open to the budding cartoonist. Students will come out of this class with a working creative process that they can apply to future comics and related art forms. 

This class is ideal for ages 14- 18. 



Jess Worby is a cartoonist, illustrator, visual artist, and teacher at schools like St. John's University. He specializes in teaching the creation of visual narratives that establish a unique personal voice. His work has been honored by Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, and Best American Comics, and featured on sites such as Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and Wired. Clients include The New York Times, McSweeney's, Koyama Press, and The Brooklyn Rail.
