$250 course fee: Students bring own painting supplies

This course is an introduction to landscape painting in oil using photographic references. Topics include selection of reference material, composition, color mixing, and techniques for brushwork. Learn to develop a successful landscape painting when working from photographs. Students are encouraged to bring a variety of source material to the first session so we can explore different options to work from and discuss how to make the best choice of reference photo; then we will experiment with different brush techniques to create a vivid painting.

All levels of experience are welcome. Students are asked to bring in a surface on which to work and are encouraged to apply a warm dark base coat color to their surfaces as it is the most effective way to support the techniques we will be using. They should also bring a medium of choice, brushes and a palette. Easels and tables will be provided.
